Man Towels

I was busy as a bee pre-Christmas: making gifts, kicking ass and taking names (no surprise there, right?). Below are just some of the "man towels" I gave away as gifts to most of my office mates for the holidays this year. I think they're fun, and hope to put some together down the road as a set. Who wouldn't want to dry their dishes with a sharp-dressed man?

These go to eleven. My tribute to Spinal Tap.

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

Christmas Presents!

So I was busy busy artsing and crafting all weekend for the holidays. I'm super excited about some of the things I made, but can't show them off yet since they are gifts. HOWEVER - I couldn't help myself, so here's a sneak peak at something I've been working on. (Hint: they rhyme with tan rowels.)

MORE ST!#CH OUT LOUD....

I haven't found any dandy frames for these pieces yet...but hope to soon. I'm also in the works of knuckle tattoo gloves, flour sack kitchen towels, a tribute to Spinal Tap and more. Exciting. Stay tuned. But first and foremost, I made you a mixed tape...

Yarn!

Here are some things I did over the weekend, new and in-the-works projects alike. I haven't been knitting much lately - but the cold and gloom inspired me to dabble back in it.

YARN ORNAMENTS

These pictures don't entirely do them justice - but you get the point. They're simple, pretty and perfect for that special craftster in your life.

"SMOKING" GLOVES
For doing things outside when the tips of your gloves or mittens only get in the way. It was my first pass - and they are far from perfect. But they'll do their job.

BLANKET (I hate the word afghan)
I started working on this last winter, and needless to say it's still in the works. I am just starting it back up again, because it was too hot this summer to have a big blanket draped over you. It's the perfect project for snuggling up on the couch and watching movies on lazy winter day.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Christmas is awesome. First of all you get to spend time with people you love. Secondly, you can get drunk and no one can say anything. Third, you give presents. What's better than giving presents? And fourth, getting presents. So four things. Not bad for one day. It's really the greatest day of all time.
- Michael Scott, The Office

These just may very well be the fifth thing that makes Christmas so great. These are all still in the works, and aren't finished yet. But check it out. I'm open to any suggestions for some fun words that people may want to see. Let me know what you think.

Flowers - capitulo uno

So it may be approaching temperatures in the teens - but a little vegetation will help to warm that up. Here are a couple flower paintings I did a week or so ago.

Eat your peas!

These are the things that I love to eat. But alas, I do not. That would mean I would have to (gasp) drive to a grocery store. So instead, I've painted them. Maybe someday they will inspire me to start cooking healthy again. Eating out is just so yummy...

(I'm not sure what's up with the white specs when you zoom in on the pics...still working on the whole lighting/photography thing. But it's getting there.)

I'm a sucker for acrylics

Here is an oldie but a goodie - a favorite piece of mine.

I have a lot more to share but I'm in the process of figuring out the light situation in my apartment. Every picture that I take seems to come out dark and blurry. So stay tuned for the flowers, fruits, vegetables, buildings and mustaches to come.

St!#ch Out Loud

So, I've been doing some cross stitching...and I've come up with some fun things. Influenced by Subversive Cross Stitch, these are my own patterns - and are definitely not hanging alongside your grandmother's on the wall.

And so it begins...

Since I can remember I have always been an avid artist and craftster. Although somewhat of a "craft traditionalist" by nature, I have found that my art has taken on my own personality...sweet, loud, fun-loving and on occasion, inappropriate.

I wanted to start blogging as a why to showcase my various works, from the more traditional and classic to the kitchy and crude. Please bear with me while I get this up and running, and along the way as this is most definitely a work-in-progress.

I hope you enjoy exploring the work as much as I did creating it. Cheers.
